Excuses for showing up late
Car wouldn't start.

Haste makes waste.

I can't read my writing.

I didn't want to look too eager.

I have a slow metabolism.

I like to make an entrance.

I thought it was a holiday.

I thought time was on my side.

I thought you were being approximate.

I was at the right time in the wrong place.

I was in my zone.

I'm on the Roman calendar.

My alarm didn't go off.

My cat got sick.

My doctor told me to slow down.

My VCR just blinks 12.00.

My watch was slow.

Oh! I thought it was 'fall forward and spring back!'

Road construction.

The lights were against me.

What difference will it make a hundred years from now?

You wouldn't believe the line at the McDonald's drive-thru.

My watch stopped.

I was explaining time zone to my nephew and left my watch on the wrong zone...

I overslept.

Had to go back for my mobile phone - expected a very important call from the boss.

The traffic was horrible.

I got lost.

I'm late, I'm taking Prozac, who cares?

I was having an out of body experience.

I got tied up at the office. Bondage is so time consuming.

I forgot to reset my watch when I got in from Monaco.

I wanted to give you extra time to get ready. I know how you hate to be rushed.

I'm dyslexic and I switched the numbers of the address. I ended up at a massage parlour, I couldn't just walk out again now could I ?

The cab driver didn't speak English, so first he drove us to his house so his nine year old could translate.

My car was stolen and used in a robbery, and then it was impounded as evidence, so I had to take the bus.

I have problems with meetings at this time, it's the hour my mother died.

My "inner child" was dawdling.

Actually, in many cultures being late is a sign of great respect. I think our culture is too time oriented, don't you?
